 Pholasaí maidir le Caomhnú Leanaí  Scoil an tSeachtar Laoch

 

Glacann an Bord Bainistíochta leis go bhfuil fíorthábhacht le caomhnú leanaí agus leas leanaí maidir le gach gné de shaol na scoile agus nach mór sin a bheith le sonrú ar pholasaithe, modhanna oibre agus beartaíocht uile na scoile. Dá réir sin, ag teacht lena n-éilítear faoi ‘Nósanna Imeachta maidir le Caomhnú Leanaí i mBunscoileanna agus i Scoileanna Iarbhunscoile’ na Roinne Oideachais agus Scileanna, tá an polasaí seo a leanas maidir le caomhnú leanaí aontaithe ag Bord Bainistíochta Scoil an tSeachtar Laoch:

 

  1. Tá glactha ag an mBord Bainistíochta le ‘Nósanna Imeachta maidir le Caomhnú Leanaí i mBunscoileanna agus i Scoileanna Iarbhunscoile’ na Roinne agus déanfar a gcur i bhfeidhm go hiomlán, gan athrú gan leasú, mar chuid den pholasaí ginearálta maidir le caomhnú leanaí.
  1. An Duine Idirchaidrimh Ainmnithe (DIA): Príomh Oide na Scoile

Fógrófar an t-eolas seo go soiléir timpeall na scoile.

  1. An Leas-Dhuine Idirchaidrimh Ainmnithe (Leas-DIA): Príomh Oide Ionaid na Scoile
  1. I ndáil le polasaithe, modhanna oibre agus beartaíocht de chuid Scoil an tSeachtar Laoch, cloífear leis na prionsabail seo a leanas den dea-chleachtas maidir le caomhnú leanaí agus leas leanaí:

Déanfaidh an scoil glacadh leis go bhfuil fíorthábhacht le caomhnú leanaí agus leas leanaí, gan bheann ar aon cheist eile;

comhoibriú go hiomlán leis na húdaráis chuí faoin reachtaíocht maidir le caomhnú leanaí agus cúrsaí leasa leanaí

gnásanna sábháilte a ghlacadh chuici féin d’fhonn an dóigh go dtarlódh dochar nó tionóisc do leanbh a mhaolú oiread agus is féidir agus an lucht oibre a chosaint ó chall dul i mbaol nach gá a bhféadfadh gurb é toradh a bheadh air go gcuirfí drochúsáid nó faillí ina leith; gnás ionracais a thabhairt chun cinn le tuismitheoirí agus iad a spreagadh a bheith rannpháirteach in oideachas a gcuid leanaí; agus meas iomlán a léiriú ar riachtanais rúndachta agus í ag déileáil le cúrsaí caomhnaithe leanaí

Cloífidh an scoil leis na prionsabail thuas freisin i ndáil le haon dalta fásta lena mbaineann soghontacht speisialta.

  1. (a) Féachfaidh Príomh Oide / Bainisteoir / Bord Bainistíochta na scoile chuige go mbeidh gach éinne atá ag obair sa scoil eolach ar na treoirlínte thuas agus go leanfaidh siad iad dá réir. Tabharfar cóip den Chiorclán 0065/2011 do ghach oibrí scoile & ball den Bhord Bainistíochta.
  • Má agus nuair a tharlaíonn sé go mbíonn ball fóirne buartha i dtaobh caomhnú páistí, tabharfaidh sí/sé amhlaidh le fios don D.I.A. / D.L.P. – chomh maith le h-aon eolas / tabhairt faoi ndeara (observations) a oireann.
  • Ansin rachaidh an D.I.A. féin i dteagmháil leis na h-udaráis cuí – san H.S.E. Leanfar na treoracha sa lámhleabhar “Tús Áite do Leanaí: Treoir Náisiúnta Um Chosaint & Leas Leanaí”.

Tabharfaidh an Príomh Oide le fios don Bhord Bainistíochta aon chás go raibh air/uirthí teagmháil leis an HSE maidir le tuairisc a thabhairt nó comhairle a lorg i dtaobh caomhnú

  • Tá rúndacht rí-thabhachtach agus cúrsaí dá leithéid seo a bheith á bplé.

Ní rachaidh an t-eolas thairis siúd go mba ghá dóibh an t-eolas a bheith acu “on a need to know basis”

Déanfar an eolas a thaifeadadh agus a roinnt leis na daoine/ udaráis cuí.

Coimeádfar an t-eolas seo in áit sábhálta in oifig an Phríomh Oide

 

  • Mar chuid den teagasc O.S.P.S. múinfear páistí, spreagfar iad:-

INSINT má tá aon rud ag cur isteach orthu, nó atá taréis tárlú dóibh maidir lena sábháltacht coirp

agus anama e.g. an Cód Iompair / an Polasaí in aghaidh na Bulaíochta, an Straitéis Tinrimh

Daltaí, Maoirseacht ar Dhaltaí, Gníomhaíochtaí Spóirt/Turais Scoile / Socrúcháin oibre daltaí in

iarbhunscoileanna etc.

Déanfar an clár Bí Sábhailte ina iomlán tríd an scoil.

  • Tá na polasaithe seo a leanas fite fuaite i gcursaí caomhnú leanaí na scoile

Tá sé cinntithe ag an mBord go bhfuil na polasaithe, prótacail nó cleachtais, de réir mar is cuí, curtha i bhfeidhm i ndáil le gach ceann de na rudaí thuasluaite.

  1. Cuireadh an polasaí seo ar fáil d’fhoireann na scoile agus do Coiste na dTuismitheoirí agus tá sé ar fáil go héasca ag tuismitheoirí ach é a iarraidh. Cuirfear cóip den bpolasaí seo ar fáil don Roinn agus don phátrún sa chás go n-iarrtar é. Tabharfar le fios do ghach clann sa scoil go bhfuil a leithéid de pholasaí i bhfeidhm sa scoil.
  1. Déanfaidh an Bord Bainistíochta an polasaí seo a thabhairt faoi athbhreithniú uair in aghaidh na scoilbhliana. Tarlóidh sé seo i Mí Márta gach blian.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY of  SCOIL AN tSEACHTAR LAOCH

 The Board of Management recognises that child protection and welfare considerations permeate all aspects of

school life and must be reflected in all of the school’s policies, practices and activities.  Accordingly, in

accordance with the requirements of the Department of Education and Skills’ Child Protection Procedures for

Primary and Post Primary Schools, the Board of Management of Scoil an tSeachtar Laoch has agreed the

following child protection policy

  1. The Board of Management has adopted and will implement fully and without modification the Department’s Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools as part of this overall child protection policy.
  1. The Designated Liason Person (DLP) is The School Principal – This information will be clearly displayed throughout the school.
  1. The Deputy Designated Liason Person (Deputy DLP ) is The School Deputy Principal.
  1. In its policies, practices and activities, Scoil an tSeachtar Laoch will adhere to the following principles of best practice in child protection and welfare:

The school will:

  • recognise that the protection and welfare of children is of paramount importance, regardless of all

other considerations.

  • fully co-operate with the relevant statutory authorities in relation to child protection and welfare

matters.

  • adopt safe practices to minimise the possibility of harm or accidents happening to children and

protect  workers from the necessity to take unnecessary risks that may leave themselves open to

accusations of abuse or neglect;

  • develop a practice of openness with parents and encourage parental involvement in the education

of their children; and

  • fully respect confidentiality requirements in dealing with child protection matters.

 

The school will also adhere to the above principles in relation to any adult pupil with a special vulnerability.

 

  1. (a) The school Principal / Manager / Board of Management will ensure that all school personnel are aware of

the above guidelines and will adhere to them appropriately.  A copy of the Circular 0065/2011 will be

given to all school personnel and to members of the Board of Management.

(b) Should it arise that a staff member is concerned about a child’s welfare, s(he) will inform the D.L.P. and

provide any relevant information and/or observations.

  • The D.L.P. will then contact the appropriate authorities in the H.S.E. The guidelines in the handbook

“Tús Áite do Leanaí: Treoir Náisiúnta Um Chosaint & Leas Leanaí” will be followed in this regard.  The

Principal will inform the Board of Management of any contact (s)he made with the H.S.E. in relation to

reporting or seeking advice about an issue of child welfare.

 

  • The importance of confidentiality in such matters is recognised. Consequently, information will be

shared only with those for whom it is directly relevant and then only “on a need to know basis”

Any information provided will be recorded and shared with the appropriate authorities.

This information will be stored safely in the Principal’s office.

  • As part of the S.P.H.E. course, the children will be taught and encouraged to:

DISCLOSE anything that is worrying them or that may have happened to them in relation to their

physical, menral or emotional safety Ref: School’s Behaviour Code, Policy on Bullying, Pupil

Attendance Strategy, Pupil Supervision, Sports Activities, School Tours, Second Level school

placements.

The Stay Safe Programme will be implemented in full throughout the school.

  • These policies are an essential part of the school’s approach to dealing with pupil welfare.

The Board has ensured that the necessary policies, protocols or practices as appropriate are in place in

respect of each of the above listed items.

  1. This policy has been made available to school personnel and the Parents’ Association (if any) and is

readily accessible to parents on request.  A copy of this policy will be made available to the Department and

the Patron if requested.

All families will be informed that this policy is in operation in the school.

  1. This policy will be reviewed by the Board of Management once in every school year. This will take place during March every year.
